An object, possibly a finger ring made from two strands of twisted silver wire of uncertain date. Two strands of silver filigree twisted together to form a hoop; one end has started to unravel. Dimensions: diameter: 20.85mm; weight: 1.01g. Due to the undiagnostic nature of the find it can not be securely dated to pre-1707 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

A silver circular disc, possibly a reused token, pierced to be hung as a pendant. Obverse decoration: five-pointed star (pentagram) consisting of double lines with each point extending beyond the outer edge of the pendant. The pentagram lines are decorated with short straight lines protruding at right angles, giving a textured or feathered appearance. In the centre of the pentagram is a sub-circular, roughly spiral design, again double lined, with punched-dot decoration within, possibly representing a skull. The reverse of the pendant shows faint circular design - this maybe from an e…

Silver ring, possibly a finger ring. The band is wide, undecorated and has an inward facing D-shaped cross section. The fact that the ring has a convex internal surface suggests that it may not be a finger ring. Undiagnostic Description: silver band, probably a fitting, with undecorated surface. The interior of the fitting is convex, indicating that this is indeed a fitting rather than a finger-ring. Discussion: There are no diagnostic features to the fitting, therefore it is not possible to conclusively date the fitting.

Hemispherical head with a double beaded shank. There appear to be two holes in the head to take further fittings, one of which remains in place. It appears to be conical. The entire object appears to have suffered damage, perhaps heat or fire related. The shank indicates some sort of fitting or fastening function but otherwise the object is unidentifiable.

Silver ingot with a rectangular cross section, the sides and ends have been heavily hammered. The exact nature of this artefact is unknown. Although this object has been reported as treasure, it is undiagnostic and undateable. Therefore, because it is not possible to prove that it is more than 300 years old, it falls outside the definition of 1996 Treasure Act and has been disclaimed as non-treasure.

A barrel-shaped bead made from sheet metal with a simple unsoldered longitudinal join. The hollow centre of the bead is filled with soil, with a short segment of sub-circular sectioned bent gold wire protruding from one end. The bead is decorated with three ridges flanked by pairs of ribs; another rib marks each of the open ends No exact parallel has been found. Gold beads are known in the British and Irish Bronze Age but these are usually biconical or tubular and the very high copper content argues against a Bronze Age date. Date: Unknown, but over 300 years Dimensions: Length 7mm.…

Complete silver possible chape for which no exact parallel could be found. Formed from a hollow oval sectioned tapering piece of silver, which may have been cast as no join can now be seen, the tapering end curves one way and has a sharp pint. The open end is also unusual as it has small circular holes through it, through which there are a few surviving fragments of now brown thread. This object was therefore obviously attached to a larger object, possibly the rest of a knife scabbard via this thread. Dimensions: 30.3mm in length, 10.6mm in width at open end and 0.6mm in width at te…

A fragment of a silver plate of uncertain date. The plate is rectangular with three straight edges and one irregular edge. This irregularity is possibly due to the presence of an attachment hole which is now broken and worn. An area of cross-hatching is present close to the irregular end. This fragment is undiagnostic and as such cannot be identified or dated any more closely. The metal is a mid blackish-grey colour and is worn. The plate is 13.3mm long, 7.5mm wide, 0.5mm thick and weighs 0.3g.

Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Silver Finger ring. Band of very slightly plano-convex section bearing faint traces of worn vertical and horizontally inscribed decoration, perhaps the remnant of a billeted scheme. The band is broken although complete. The finder suggests an Anglo-Saxon date, though finger rings dated to the Early Medieval period with such a scheme as is suspected here are more massive than this example. Suggested date: Unknown, 1600-1900. This reporter considers a lack of assured and diagnostic detail precludes such dating as would be required to embark on a Treasure process. Internal diameter: …
