Silver Finger ring. Band of very slightly plano-convex section bearing faint traces of worn vertical and horizontally inscribed decoration, perhaps the remnant of a billeted scheme. The band is broken although complete. The finder suggests an Anglo-Saxon date, though finger rings dated to the Early Medieval period with such a scheme as is suspected here are more massive than this example. Suggested date: Unknown, 1600-1900. This reporter considers a lack of assured and diagnostic detail precludes such dating as would be required to embark on a Treasure process. Internal diameter: …

Silver finger-ring, deformed to an oval and, presumably as a consequence of being squashed, cracked in one place. The band is decorated with two rows of punched, concentric double-crescents, some of them with a dot in the centre. The crescents are unevenly executed and worn away along the edge of the ring. It has proven impossible to find close parallels for either the ring or its decoration. While the width of the band is in keeping with Late Saxon finger rings, these are more solidly made (cf., e.g., Hinton, fig. 40) and of different decoration. It is unlike Viking rings found in …

A silver finger ring of uncertain date (c. AD 600 - 1900). The finger ring is formed of a single piece of silver wire joined at the shoulder on one side by soldering. The silver wire has a circular cross-section. The ring exhibits a simple slip-knot with a slightly flattened upper surface as the bezel. The finger ring measures 18.84mm in diameter (16.52mm internal diameter), is 1.14mm thick and weighs 0.75g. Silver wire rings can be difficult to date and may date from the early medieval to modern. This example bears similarities to LANCUM-972281 (2004T255) rings 2 & 3 from the C…
