The upper surface is smooth, whereas the lower surface is pitted. It measures 22.76 mm in length, 12.17 mm wide and 7.15 mm thick. It weighs 7.9 g. It is a mid to dark grey / silver colour, with an even surface patina. A complete silver possible coin, of possible Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). The possible coin is misshapen, possibly due to having been subjected to a heat source. Both the obverse and reverse are unclear. It is possible to make out the remains of probable letters along one edge, reading [ ]IVS[ ]. Diameter: 13.70 mm Thickness: 1.93 mm Weight: 1.3 g. The identification of this artefact as a coin is only a possibility, due to the shape and thickness. It is possibly a piece of undiagnostic casting waste.

An unidentified probable silver artefact of uncertain function and dating. The artefact is sub oval in plan, and oval in section. One surface has a raised sub oval area. Edges are incomplete and exhibit breaks, suggesting it was part of a larger object. It measures 36.22 mm in length, 25.26 mm wide and 9.42 mm thick. It weighs 46.8 g (1.65 oz). The artefact is a mid to dark grey colour, and an even surface. It is probably made from silver, but weight and colouring is suggestive that it may be a heavily leaded copper alloy. An incomplete fragment of probable silver casting waste, of uncertain dating, but probably Roman to Medieval (AD 43 to AD 1500). The fragment is irregular in plan and section. It measures 25.15 mm in length, 13.47 mm wide and 9.28 mm thick. It weighs 8.5 g. The finder initially identified this item as 'hack silver', however due to the appearance of solidified molten runs, it is more likely to be casting waste than 'hack silver'. The metal is believed to be silver, but XRF testing refused to confirm as it could not focus on the artefact. Barry Ager (British Museum) has stated …

A probably silver plaited wire ring of unknown date, probably dating to 19th or 20th century. The object is likely a sleeve or collar for a hunting whip. The wire of the ring is circular in cross section. Dr Helen Geake suggests that these silver rings of unknown date should be recorded to further research their dating. She states "that at least some are from 16th- to 18th-century sword-grips, and others are certainly Early Medieval, either Anglo-Saxon (parallels on the Trewhiddle scourge) or Viking (parallels from Viking-age graves and hoards in Scandinavia, Ireland and t…
