There is a small, roughly circular, tapering hole which seems to be rather off-centre, although some of the edges of the whorl are chipped, suggesting that it may originally have been larger. The object has a perforated sub-biconical central portion, attached to an incomplete outer ring by a series of ribs which radiate outwards. The object has a pitted brown/grey surface. The radiating ribs and outer ring are unusual, but the biconical shape with a central circular perforation is a recognised form for cast lead weights. It is possible that this object is a weight rather than a spindle whorl.

3 Spiers Winkle spindle whorl Cast lead weight, possibly a spindle whorl. Circular in plan with a slightly off-centre perforation. Pointed-oval shaped in profile. Mass: 35.4g; external diameter: 28.1mm; internal diameter: 10.8mm; depth: 10.3mm. One side is decorated with wavy and straight ridges radiating outwards. The other side is decorated with two raised squares and a set of ?pellets and ridges around the four edges of the outer square.

A complete and rather unusual, short lead pin. The pin consists of a bulbous head which narrows gradually into a thinner rounded point. There is no evidence of any other materials such as iron inserts which are sometimes incorporated into similar objects. The surface is a greyish-white colour. No other parallels have been found for this object therefore we are unable to estimate its age or its intended use.

Spherical cast lead weight with a slight flattening top and bottom and a circular hole pierced top to bottom. It is 18.9mm in diameter, 16.8mm tall and the hole is 3.6mm in diameter with some evidence of wear to one side. It weighs 33.17 grams. Lead weight were often made locally for a wide range of uses so are hard to date precisely, this could be Roman - Modern in date.
