Cast lead weight dating from the Roman to the Post-Medieval period, (43-1700). The weight is conical shaped and is sub-circular in cross-section. The object has an irregular circular perforation through the centre of the weight. The outer surface of the object has been decorated with deep grooves. These are irregular and appear to have been 'gouged' out. The base of the object is uneven and the object does not sit flat. The weight may have been used as a loom weight; however other uses for this weight are also possible. It has a brownish grey patina and has been crudely made.
