Probably wrought iron chain link. An elongated oval link, probably worn or flattened at one end. The object appears to have been made by bending a square section rod, though this appearance could arise from the delamination of corroding metal. Suggested date: Unknown, probably Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1200-1800. Length: 62mm, Width: 28mm, Thickness: 9mm, Weight: 26.21gms.

Iron possible sword fragment. Wrought Iron object, possibly a fragment from the shouldered junction of the tang and blade of a heavy iron blade. There is the appearance of folding at the tang - though this may be corrosion - and one side of the putative blade is lightly dished. The identification offered is necessarily tentative. Suggested date: Unknown, Late Iron Age to Medieval, 300 BC - AD 1500. Length: 68mm, Width: 49mm, Thickness (at 'tang'): 18mm, Weight: 85.92gms.

Copper alloy tap fragment. Plain cast round-section handle, broken across the stem of a T-shaped form, slightly constricted towards either end with a slight terminal expansion at each. Another similar object was reported from the parish and was then ascribed a post-medieval date: this object is very similar, but the absence of accompanying post-medieval material here may prompt reconsideration of that later date offered. Copper alloy finger ring. Drawn wire of diameter 0.9mm wound to form a single strand band, around which are wrapped five and three coils to form shoulders, the latter continuing to form a spiral bezel of four or five tightly compressed coils. The type is often ascribed to the Viking Age, but such neat examples tend to be placed between the Roman and Middle Anglo-Saxon periods (Leahy and Lewis 2020, 270, citing LVPL-302794 and WILT-9D4288); this is an unusually small and neat version of a form of ring which would appear uncomfortable to wear. Copper alloy weight. Cast discoid concavo-convex weight with rounded side and narrow rim; a central raised spot in the internal surface suggests the object was finished on a lathe. Very worn. The mass suggests this to have represented one [now slightly underweight] averdepois ounce; however, the rounded as opposed to straight form of the sides may open the possibility of a Roman date, representing one uncia [of 27.3gms] to which the current mass is closer. Copper alloy cosmetic implement. Cast object with an oval suspension loop with drilled aperture, enlarged by wear, a moulded bulbous handle of D-section, of thicker upper and thinner lower profile and hollowed behind, and a flat straight-sided projecting blade, now bent and broken. The loop suggests this is part of a cosmetic set, and these might be encountered in either a Roman or early medieval setting. Copper alloy ring. Cast round section ring, markedly thinned by internal wear at one point on its band. The form might be associated with the fastening of straps in Iron Age or even earlier times, particularly for sword gear and horse gear. However, material from the Roman period onwards is more prominent among accompanying finds, while patches of black shiny material on the object recall the post-medieval habit of treating metal with oil or lacquer.
