This coin has been pierced, presumably for use as a jewellery item at a later date. Although this practice occurred in the Roman period it is most commonly documented as an early-medieval practice. The piercing respects neither obverse nor reverse designs: it is at 2 o'clock on the obverse, at 3 o'clock on the reverse.
