A contemporary copy of a nummus of Crispus dating to c. AD 321 - 323 (Reece Period 16). BEATA TRA-NQVILLITAS (globe on altar inscribed VOT/IS/XX) reverse. Prototype Mints: Mint of Lyons (reverse) with mintmark C/R//PLG;; Mint of Trier (obverse). The obverse legend D N IVL CRISPVS AVG T cannot be correct because Crispus was only ever a Caesar. Furthermore, the obverse type with horse was not used at Lyon, the only existing types being from Trier. (see RIC VII, p. 198, no. 381). The reverse type is as RIC VII, p. 132, no. 153.
