SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI reverse type depicting Pax standing left holding olive branch and cornucopiae, setting foot on Dacian. Mint of Rome. cf. RIC II, p. 257, no. 190a (but without aegis on obverse). It is not clear whether the damage to the coin is deliberate, although there do appear to be several score marks on both the obverse and reverse.

A silver denarius of Trajan (AD 96-117). The coin measures 19mm in diameter, and 2.0mm in thickness. It weighs 3.0g. The form of the obverse legend dates the coin to the year AD 97. The coin commemorates Trajan's campaigns in Dacia (modern Romania). These campaigns are more famously referred to on Trajan's Column in Rome.
