Patinated silver denarius of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14), EXPECTATE VENI, Britannia holding standard standing right clasping hands with emperor standing left holding sceptre. VENI is clear under high magnification - appears VINI or VIIII at normal size. Obverse: IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, Laureate, draped and cuirassed right. Mintmark: - // RS[R]; commonly attributed to London, but to be studied further. Diameter 20.5mm, thickness 1.8mm, weight 3.5g. RIC V, pt 2, p. 510, no. 554. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.

Mintmark * // - RIC V, pt 2 - The reverse legend might have been intended to be IOVI CONSERVATORI, but the die-engraver made an error by inscribing IOVI CONSERVATIO. Mintmark: -//RSR; commonly attributed to London, but be studied further.
The second half of the reverse legend has an number of possible alternatives. This general type, with clasped hands, is one of the more common reverse types on Carausius' denarii.
About a ΒΌ of the coin is missing from 9 o'clock of the obverse.
