A copper-alloy contemporary copy of a Roman denarius of Septimius Severus, Minerva reverse prototype from Rome, c.195-196. There is a rough break along the left edge of the coin and a casting limb projects from the opposite edge. It is probable that the coin would have been silver-washed. c.f. RIC IV, pt I, p. 99, no 68
