A copper alloy ring, of uncertain function but possibly some form of harness fitting. Fragment of flat and slightly curving 18x38mm object, very thin (c.0.3mm thick) and broken at one end (ancient break). At the complete end is a panel of four ring-and-dot flanked by a horizontal row of point-opposing triangular stamps. From this point four pairs of tiny stamped dots rise vertically and roughly equidistant, from long edge to long edge, to the break. The reverse is flat and smooth. A corner of the complete end is missing (ancient break). The style of the object is Roman, although the shape is perhaps reminiscent of an Anglo Saxon wrist clasp. If a bracelet, it is not of…

Copper alloy ?awl 78mm long and slightly S-shaped in profile. At no point does the object appear to be circular in section. At its midpoint it is rather more rectangular with rounded edges. From this point the object continues in the same vein until c.10mm from the end where the object thins and the edges become more angular. The object swells slightly before tapering to a flatish point. In the other direction from the mid-point, the section becomes more square and angular, eventually thinning c.15mm from the end to a flat and rectangular 2x1mm finish. Measurements at mid-section, 3…

The central piercing measures 8.78mm in diameter and 11.25mm in length, where it has had consierdable wear (presumably through suspension) to one side. The ring is almost entirely covered in a grey-green concretion, but where the original patina is visible it is dark brown, smooth and shiny. This, along with the fact it appears finished and well-made, suggests it could be Late Iron …
