Copper alloy enamelled mount, probably of Roman date, possibly 2nd or 3rd century The mount is of circular form and would have had six integral radiating wires of rectangular section, one fragmentary example now survives (giving an overall surviving width of 21.9mm, a weight of 3.1g; with a surviving rod length of 4.8mm, a width of 1.2mm and a thickness of 1.4mm). The base is circular (with a diameter of 7.5mm) with a stepped moulding, which the six rods are equally spaced around. The sides are convergent to the circular face (with a height of 5.6mm and a diameter of 4.5mm). The …

A fragment of a copper alloy mount, possibly part of a finger ring, of uncertain date. What remains is possibly most of a rectangular or sub-triangular shaped shield, with knops set at an angle in the two extant corners, set upon what may be the remains of the hoop of a finger ring. The item is robustly, almost crudely, made. It is 22.67mm in length to the broken end (including the projecting knops) and 28.22mm in width (again, including the knops). The hoop of the supposed ring is almost entirely missing but the concave shape of the inner part of a possible hoop can be seen under the…

An incomplete undidentified object of uncertain date. The artefact bares some similarities to multiple motif Roman bracelets, yet the second perforation with bevelled edges on both faces makes this identification less likely. The extant item (24.48mm in length) is rectangular in section, and in form, but it tapers a little from 6.40mm in width to 5.20mm at the far end where it has broken, at an early date, at the point of one of the rivet holes. The upper side of the item is decorated with moulded or cut edging, giving a toothed edge and there is a lightly inscribed central line with a…
