Cast copper-alloy item, possibly a strap end of the later Early Medieval period although no good parallels have yet been found. The item is sub-cylindrical in shape with a flat-bottomed solid six-sided base the sides of which taper gently up towards the mid-point which is decorated with two linear grooves. Above this point the object then starts to thin and flare outwards into a flattened wedge shape with a straight edge decorated with two linear grooves. A complete Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch, dated to the 1st to 2nd centuries. Brooch has a simple trumpet-shaped head with no wings. The bow curves deeply outwards and has a decorative collar at its middle. The collar consists of five prominent horizontal ridges moulded in relief. The foot has three similar ridges in relief and ends in a small terminal knop. The catchplate is complete and the pin is present. The brooch has a green patina over its surface.

A copper alloy Roman bracelet, in the form of a 21mm wide strip decorated with lingitudinal moulded lines, two of which have a rope design. The patterns on the strip end with an irregularly punched ring and dot design bordered with a row of punched rectangles on each side. The inside of the strip is plain. A similar broad armlet was found in Colchester in a 1st century ditch of the fortress [Crummy 1983, p37-38].
