Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy, two fragments of manufacturing waste, (a) and (b). One (a) is a lump of copper alloy melt weighing 10.78gms; the other (b) may be a fragment of a small tongue-shaped ingot, which is 26.3mm long, 26.6mm wide, 8.3mm thick and weighs 22.39gms. As the latter is broken on two sides, no inference can be drawn from its weight, but small ingots of similar thickness are sometimes ascribed to Late Iron Age activity. Suggested date: Late Iron Age to Post-Medieval, 300 BC- AD 1800. Total weight: 48.99gms.

Undated copper-alloy possible ingot. The ingot is a square-sectioned bar with one rounded end and the other end being broken or cut. The dimensions of the bar are 107.4mm long and 18.2mm x 17.4mm in section and it weighs 260g. The ingot has a mid greenish-brown colour. Although undatable this item has been recorded due to the recovery of a Bronze Age palstave axe from the same field and although no clear association can be made between them at this time further finds from the same area may alter this situation.
