The upper part of the bow is broken off just above a transverse groove. The remainder of the bow is straight and parallel sided, and decorated with a raised longitudinal ridge with a row of nine pellets to either side, all in high relief. Triple collared moulding at the base of the bow, then conical foot, bevelled at the top and with groove around the base. Large (length 3mm, diameter 4.0mm) rounded knop (with slight point at tip) projecting from the base of the foot. The trapezoidal catchplate is complete and extends up to a slight transverse ridge corresponding with the transverse groove on the obverse of the bow. Fine mid-green patina; traces of tinning/silvering on all surfaces. Length 36.64, diameter of foot 8.97mm, width of bow (max, at top) 6.59mm, thickness (max) 17.30mm, weight 6.43g.
The combination of the transverse moulding at the top of what survives of the bow, the straight bow, the conical foot with projection, and the tinning/silvering, indicate that this is a trumpet brooch fragment, 1st-2nd century.

The ring consists of a flat band of metal which has been bent round to form a ring. The two ends of the band do not meet, leaving a small gap in the circle of the ring. One end of the band of metal tapers and curves to a pointed terminal but the other end is rather crudely cut off square across the band. This indicates that the band may originally have been longer and therefore part of a different object such as, for example, a narrow bangle. The band is decorated with an incised line running along its length close to either edge. The ring has a soft green patina over both its interior and exterior surfaces.
Diameter 20.5mm, width of band 6.1mm, thickness of metal 2.2mm, weight 4.17g.
Compare the finger ring at SF-8707D1 for a similar suggestion of a Roman bracelet fragment reused as a ring.
