Late Iron Age or Romano-British strap union, Taylor and Brailsford type 1. This object is constructed of a figure of eight flanked on either side by a vertical bar, attached at each end by a moulded oval collar. The figure of eight is semicircular in section having a flat rear side with a domed front, and the vertical bars are circular in section. The overall patina of the object is dark greyish-green. Iron age copper alloy belt fitting, 18.8mm in diameter and 7.8mm wide. The object is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 3.61 grams. The object is circular and has a sub triangular section with a rectangular sectioned protruding lip at each side. These types of objects are thought to be associated with sword belts of the late Iron age, see IOW-C4B3D2.

A cast copper alloy late Iron Age belt fitting. It is in the form of two oval 'eye' shapes, each a raised flat circular dome inside a raised oval border with a marked point at the narrow end, meeting at the thick ends. The ovals are 11.8mm long and 11.2mm wide. The border forms a figure of eight shape around the two ovals. On the reverse of the fitting There is an uneven rectangular sectioned bar through which the strap would have slide. The bar is 27.4mm long, 4.9mm wide and 3.4mm thick. The fitting is 35.6mm long, 13.9mm wide, 6.4mm thick and weighs 12.9g. For similar find see NMS-3798B4.

An incomplete cast in one piece copper alloy strap fitting in the form of a baldric ring of Late Iron Age date (c. 100 BC – c. AD 43). Length: 18.7mm; width: 22.3mm; thickness: 11.1mm; weight: 6.15g. Cast copper alloy Roman strap fitting. It is in the form of a six-petalled flower with a rectangular loop on the reverse for attachment. The petals are separated by grooves and there is a central circular perforation. The stud is domed, being rounded on the top and flat on the reverse. A similar item was found at Traprain Law and was described as a looped stud (Macgregor. 1976. 136-7). This type of item has affintities with button and loop fasteners which have been dated from the late Iron Age through to the Roman period.

Incomplete Iron Age (100BC-50AD) cast copper alloy strap fitting. It has a circular frame with a sub-circular cross section. One edge is worn and there are two damaged and incomplete projections on the upper surface of the frame at the opposing end. The surface is pitted, with only a small amount of the original surface surviving on the inside of the loop. It is 21.83mm in diameteter, has a maximum thickness of 6.41mm and weighs 5.66grams.

A copper alloy strap fitting. The fitting has an oval loop with a rectangular loop extending from beneath it. The oval loop is sub-oval in cross-section at the base and tapers and narrows as it curves to the top at which point it becomes D-shaped in cross-section. There is a moulded ridge running around the centre of the loop on the exterior surface. The rectangular loop is rectangular in cross-section. The oval loop measures 29mm by 23mm, 10mm thick taperign to 5mm. The rectangular loop measures 16mm x 10mm x 3mm.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap slide, dating to between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. The front face of the slide consists of a circular cup which appears to have lost its central setting, possible a stone or enamel work. Projecting out from the reverse is the rectangular loop of the strap slide. The metal is a light brownish-green mottled colour and is pitted. This strap slide is similar to others that have been found in Yorkshire and the North-east. It survives in a very good condition.

Dating from the Iron Age, the fitting has an anthropomorphic central boss with a complete strap loop protruding from the left side of the head. Two more strap loops would have been present at both the right side of the face and underneath the chin. These are now missing. The features on the face area all clearly defined, including the short straight hair combed backwards from the face. No ears are depicted as these would interfere with the strap loops. The outer edge is decorated with a single row of red enamelled dots, some of which are missing the enamel.
