A worn Roman copper alloy probable As of an uncertain emperor, probably Antonine, dating to c. AD 138-161 (Reece Period 7). Uncertain reverse type, depicting Salus standing left feeding a snake rising from an altar at her feet. Uncertain mint. The coin has been pierced at 10 o'clock on the reverse, just behind the bust. The area around the piercing is concave and it would appear the coin had probably been nailed to something.

The reverse is very worn. There is a faint outline of SC. The coin is 26.4mm in diameter and 3.2mm thick. It weighs 9.19g.

A slightly worn and corroded 2nd century Roman copper-alloy As or Dupondius of uncertain Antonine emperor (c. 138-180 AD, Reece period 7-8). Mint is Rome. Both legends are missing. It is unclear if the obverse depicts a bare or laureate head; the reverse probably depicts Mars, standing front facing left with cloak over left shoulder, holding spear left and possibly another attribute right. However, due to severe surface wear on the coin, it is possible that this is actually a depiction of Mercury standing front, head left, holding patera and caduceus (Cf. RIC III, p237, No. 309). Beca…
