Early medieval cruciform brooch, two fragments, not joining but probably from the same object: Fragment 1 - part of head plate only. Part of the rectangular central plate with part of recessed left wing (right wings and base of plate broken off). Integrally cast top knob - plano-convex terminal, rectangular sectioned collar with straight sided groove between. On the reverse is a single lug to take the pin/spring, with iron staining around. A cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of early Roman date. The brooch is very small. The spring is missing, but there is iron staining within the cavity in the wings. The wings are undecorated. The surface of the bow is damaged but appears to have been decorated with four longitudinal incised lines, two probably running the length of the bow, and one on either side of the bow extending roughly half way down. The bow tapers to a point. The catchplate is missing.
Dimensions: length 26.02mm, width across wings 18.06mm, width at top of bow 8.9mm and thickness 10.95mm. Weight 4.14g.

Copper alloy brooch, Trumpet type with flattened back to the acanthus (Collingwood type Riv). Missing spring plus headloop, foot, catchpalte; damaged spring lug; bent. The head has two enamelled panels with semicircle motif - traces of blue enamel survive in the semicircle, yellow in the top triangles, red in the background. An incomplete cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch with spring mechanism of early Roman date. The spring and pin are missing but there is iron staining in the cavity within the wings. The wings are broken off, leaving a small ridge on the left side only. There is a wide shallow groove on either side of the head where it meets the wings. The bow is undecorated except for a longitudinal groove which extends along about two-thirds of the bow. The bow tapers to a point. Ceramic crucible of probable later Medieval or early post medieval date (1200-1600 AD). The crucible is incomplete and been abraded by flowing water creating smooth rounded edges to the profile. In plan the crucible is irregular; originally it would have been broadly circular, now it is an irregular ellipse. In profile it is an irregular sub-rectangular shape with a relatively narrow base which expands to an open mouth.
