A probable strap-fitting of probably either Roman or post-medieval date. It consists of a broadly rectangular plate from one end of which emerges a T-shaped bar. The plate slightly and gradually tapers to a terminal at the other end in the form of a fleur-de-lis. The lis has a rounded central lobe with two smaller, connected side lobes below. Below these latter are two thin rounded lobes angled diagonally downwards, their bases delineated by incised lines. The item is a cast lead cylinder with a flared capped terminal. On one side of the cylinder is a triangular shaped lug. The opposite side has a small protrusion suggesting something may have broken. There is a hole due to damage next to the lug. The opposite terminal is broken and has a portion of the edge being taller than the rest. It appears there is an interior cylinder surrounded by an exterior shell. The terminal cap has a hole in the base leading to the main chamber.

The item is a 'T' shape in plan. The horizontal bar is sub-rectangular in cross-section lengthways, with rounded corners. The upper face of the horizontal bar is covered with iron. The vertical bar is sub-oval in cross-section, with a slight central vertical ridge on the front face. The base of the vertical bar is a socket with iron protruding slightly. The iron appears to be broken/corroded, but not recently broken. The item suggests the core is iron within a copper alloy casing. The surface of the copper alloy is slightly pitted, otherwise it has a dark green patina.

In plan mount is a 'T' shape with a horizontal semi-circle which is fixed centrally to the lower terminal of the vertical bar. The semi-circle has a central circular hole which is counter sunk on the front face and the reverse. The horizontal bar is sub-circular in section, with the cast seam visible along its upper edge. The item is sub-circular in plan with semi-pleated edges. The pleats alternate in two sizes. The larger pleats has the edge curled under forming a concave edge. In profile the item is slightly domed. The mount has a series of creases which have since been straightened by the finder. The apex of the dome has a circular stamped ring within which is a sub-circular hole, 6.6mm diameter. The item has a vertical shaft, which is pointed at the base and has a rectangular section. This shaft is 25mm long, then the item has a thick 'square' body. The lower edge of this 'square' forms a narrow ledge. The reverse of this 'square' is flush with the shaft. On the top of the 'square' protruding perpendicular to the 'square' is a 'D' shaped loop on its 'back'. A pointed protrusion falls from the far corner of the loop.
