Large and heavy Roman gold finger ring of ‘keeled’ type with a wide openwork hoop and large ovoid bezel set with a dark blue/light grey oval nicolo intaglio. The lower part of the hoop is composed of a pair of six-sided polygons, each with a central rib and openwork panels on each side that slope downwards from the rib. A small, domed copper alloy button with a hollow back, into which the shank, which is broken, is fixed. The face is decorated with a moulded, regular floral design, and has been gilded. The makers name is moulded around the edge on the rear of the button. A central motif depicts the upper half of a facing figure with wild hair and a short-sleeved garment with its right arm raised, indeterminate objects lie to lower left. An inner circle separates the motif from a three-word circumferential legend: COUNTY FIRE OFFICE – the central word is less clear than the others. A drawn wire loop is brazed to the plain back. A lead Early Medieval spindle whorl, dating from about AD 850 - 1000. It is of Walton Rogers form A1. The spindle whorl is sub-conical in form, with one flat face and one face with one rounded face.  The whorl has a cream patina and is undecorated. Measurements are; diameter 26.9mm, thickness 6.9mm and weight 24.76g.  The central hole has a diameter of 11.1mm. Form A1 whorls are dated by Walton Rogers to AD 500 - 1000. Those with a central perforation of 11mm are more likely to be from the late Anglo Saxon period.

An incomplete post medieval copper alloy double loop oval buckle dating between AD 1550-1650 The frame is roughly oval in plan and D-shaped in cross section, with concave long sides with a projecting knop at either end of the pin bar. The outside edges of each loop also expand into a pointed knop.  A loose copper alloy wrap around pin has survived, (free of the pin bar), measuring 12.03mm long. The finder kindly suggests this may have been a cut half or quarter penny short or voided long cross penny, which could imply the period 11180-1278.
