A pair of complete Early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy tweezers dating to circa AD 43-1066. The tweezers are sub-rectangular in plan. In section, the arm end is bent out shape at a 90 degree angle to the loop. The loop is circular and contains the remains of a complete wire suspension loop. The suspension loop has two coiled ends to keep it in place. The arms of the tweezers flare outwards and the tip of one arm is folded inwards at 90 degrees. The form and the inclusion of a slip knot suspension loop suggests an Early Medieval date. …

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch with double pierced lug. Half the spring is missing, the pin and wings are incomplete. The lug becomes a central rib on the upper bow, with moulded grooves on either side. The flat centre rib of the lower bow has lightly incised rocker decoration. The catchplate is folded over and has a groove where the pin would lie when closed (Blagg et al., 2004, pg 94-95, plate 88).

Two complete Medieval copper-alloy thimbles. The thimbles have slightly sloping sides and a domed top. The surface is decorated with individually punched circular holes in a continuous anti-clockwise (left-hand) spiral, starting from a bare 'tonsure' at the centre of the top and ending in a slightly thickened band at the base. One pit no pierces the metal. There is no clear evidence of folding or notches at the base.

A complete flint Scraper of Neolithic date (3450-2100 BC). The lithic is sub-ovate in plan and bi-convex in section. The proximal end retains some cortex while the distal edge is curved. All edges with the exception of the proximal end have fine semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral surface is slightly convex with six negative scars and corresponding arises. The lithic retains some cortex and is therefore a secondary flake.
The flint is dark/light grey in colour, the cortex is light brown in colour.

Purposefully abraded and bent on opposite sides to form a shallow S- shaped profile. The obverse is entirely illegible, but the reverse still displays a part of the cruciform of crowned shields enabling dating of the coin. No marks or letters present, so possibly uncompleted.

A complete silver, or other modern white metal, bracelet dating to the later Post Medieval or modern period (c.AD1800-2000).
The bracelet is in the form of a slightly misshapen thin silver hoop. There is a soldered join forming the hoop, and two slight knops on one edge of the hoop, positioned at 5 and 9 o'clock in relation to the join. There are no hallmarks or other stamps present.

The bracelet was discovered on a section of beach close to an access point/steps following a high tide that had stripped away some of the sand to reveal the clay below .

A complete copper-alloy early Medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) finger ring. The penannular hoop is D-shaped with tapering ends which crossover and is D-shaped in cross-section. The ring widens gently to a centre which does not have a bezel. There is signs of corrosion and pitting on the patina.
A number of similar rings have been found during excavations, e.g. Elveden (West 1998, 26, no.24.7) and Thetford (Goodall in Rogerson and Dallas 1984, 69, fig.110, nos.17-20) and and recorded with the PAS in Suffolk (e.g. SF-1114A6, SF-07FB63, SF-450B65 and SF-DE3E03). …

A probable incomplete early Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy strap end with a wedge shaped terminal end which is not split, but has two rivet holes, one through either corner with the remains of copper-alloy rivets within them. The shaft is incomplete and what remains is decorated with four transverse mouldings. Superficially this strap-end is of a similar form to the attachment end of a Thomas Class B type I, however, as the wedge shaped attachment end is not split it may have been created from the foot of a small long brooch (Thomas, 2003, pg4-5, fig2).

A fragment of a copper-alloy Roman finger ring. Only the shoulders and bezel of the ring survive intact, the remainder missing due to old breaks. The shoulders are flat, oval shaped in section and expand to encompass the oval shaped bezel. The bezel contains a central S-coil motif either side of which are recessed fields filled with the remains of red enamel. An incomplete copper-alloy early Bronze Age flat axehead. All that remains is the blade end, which is flared and roughly triangular in shape.The worn and corroded cutting edge is crescentic in form, extending beyond both sides of the axe. The surface is badly corroded with little of the original patina remaining.
This is the blade end from an incomplete axe of Bronze Age date. Its form, size and lack of flanges suggest it is a flat axe rather than a palstave and as such it dates to the Early Bronze Age, c.2150-1500 BC.

The terminal consists of a portion of the spur side that is slightly curved upwards. The terminal end projects from the side at angle and is broadly tri-lobed with a circular perforation in each lobe. Both faces are undecorated and have a dark green patina.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman knife handle. Rectangular in shape with a waisted centre, it is narrower at the terminal which ends in a rectangular knop. Decorated with transverse mouldings and grooves. The incomplete terminal has the remains of corded iron surviving which may be an iron blade from a small knife. It is 24.33mm in length, 13.62mm in width and 6.82g in weight.
There are no similar examples of this form on PAS.

A fragment of a cast late Bronze Age copper alloy socketed axehead, dating to c.900-700 BC.
The fragment consists of the axehead's cutting edge only, the rest of the object is missing. The cutting edge is worn and an abraded break reveals a shallow portion of the socket that is c.6mm deep.
The axehead fragment is sub-trapezoidal in plan. The broken edge of the axehead runs transversely across its body giving an irregular, but mostly flat, edge. In cross section the body is sub-rectangular, as revealed by the break, while the blade is vesica (a pointed oval) shaped. …

Two copper alloy possible polyhedral weight. They are basically a cylindrical shape but are faceted unevenly on all sides. All of the faces have a pattern of parallel lines on them. Their weight fits neither the Scandinavian nor Dublin Viking unit weight systems, inspite of this similar shaped weights have been found at various sites of the Viking Great Army camps, see Hadley and Richards (2021) and British Museum accession number 2006.1203.104, dated to 9th century AD. An incomplete crescentic copper alloy ring; possibly a Romano British earring cf. Allason-Jones (1989) Type 1. The hoop is crescent shaped, but bent open and oval in shape, 20.1mm in maximum diameter with an internal diameter of 14.4mm. It is undecorated with rounded cross section which narrows in diameter from a maximum of 3.1mm down towards tapering points (one has broken off) which oppose each other but do not meet.

A Medieval cast copper-alloy mount, possibly from a belt, depicting a lombardic letter, either an 'E' or 'M', dating c. AD 1200-1500. Flat rectangular-sectioned plate. The arms of the letter are barred. At either end of the central arm on the reverse is a circular recession, probably where an attachment rivet was connected. The entire object is worn with a mottled mid and light green patina.
The mount measures 14.7mm long, 15.8mm wide, 1.3mm thick and weighs 0.89 grams.
