Lead trough. Cast open receptacle with one flat end and one thicker curved end. The base is flat and the sides near-vertical except at the curved end, which is both stepped and thickened with traces of either casting flash or a thinner upper part, now lost. The object bears a thin off-white powdery deposit within, but lacks any other trace of patination on its outer surfaces. Torn at its mid point, possibly in a single episode which gashed both sides. Basin or trough - the small size of the basin suggests that it may have been used to collect water from a hand pump. Crudely carved out from a piece of local stone - possibly a Presili 'bluestone'. It contains a drainage hole on the side and has been truncated. Probably 18th or 19th century
