2011 T890 Circumstances of Discovery On 10th December 2011, while metal detecting on cultivated land in Ancaster, three gold rods fused together were found, the probable remains of a broken and melted down twisted wire torc of Middle Bronze Age date (c.1300-1150BC). One is made from twisted gold, one is a round, smooth rod with a pitted surface, the last is also round but the feint hint of of a twisted surface survives on one side. Fragment of a solid cast copper-alloy torc or armlet dating to the late Iron Age or Roman period. The object comprises three solid reels joined in the centre by a solid circular shank. The shank is incomplete at both ends. The central reel is rectangular in cross-section and flat. The flanking reels however are plano-convex in cross-section with the flat side facing the interal reel. The reels are worn and corroded but they may bear a series of indentations around their circumferences. Fragment of a late Iron Age to early Roman copper alloy beaded torc. The torc fragment has three disc beads with a moulded smaller disc immediately to either side. One terminal is broken in between two disc beads. The other terminal has a broken expanded hollow cylindrical sectioned shank. The object is slightly arched in profile.
