Lead alloy tokens were used for many purposes during the Medieval and Post Medieval periods, and cast by both large and small industries. They are therefore very difficult to date, but those with initials are thought to date to the Post Medieval period.

A Post Medieval cast lead alloy token dating to AD 1659. This is a Powell type 2. The obverse has initials W . S . P in triangle formation (WS with P above) cast in relief with three pellets in triangle formation. The reverse has 1659 in two lines with two pellets, one either side cast in relief. This arrangement of letters is very similar to the trade tokens which date to AD 1648-1674.
