A lead alloy uniface token which is probably late medieval or early post medieval. The token is a circular disc,18mm in diameter and 2.5mm thick. There is a design on one face which consists of a voided cross in relief with the central square being solid. There may have originally been a beaded border, but only minute traces of this survive. The reverse is plain. The token is probably based on the design of coins and similar examples can be seen in (‘Leaden Tokens and Tallies’ by Fletcher 2005). The token is heavily patinated and is creamy white in colour.

Cast flat circular lead token with a series of inter-crossing straight lines incised onto one face. Due to a lack of archaeologically stratified and dated examples these tokens, which vary enormously, are loosely dated 1400-1850. Their precise function is unknown and it is likely the uses were many and varied ranging from pseudo-money and tokens to weights and gaming counters.
