Within this is lettering which, from the photo provided, is only partially visible, but which probably includes an 'F' an 'O' and an 'N'. There is damage to the edge in two places and a tear or cut from the edge towards the centre of the item. It has also been pierced for suspension on a string or chain and this has caused another tear. Mostly brown in colour, the decoration is silvery whe…

A hoard of 9 tokens, believed to be gaming pieces, which are based on the Austrian 1/4 florin dated 1859. These are slightly smaller than the actual silver 1/4 florin and it is thought these are made of aluminium. The reverse image is stamped on both sides of each piece and due to their white metal content are not considered as treasure. The tokens have been cleaned by the Conservator at Verulamium Museum, St Albans. They were probably made by the firm Lauer of Nuremburg in the mid to late 19th century.
