A fragment of a cast lead token produced during the reign of Elizabeth I c. 1558 - 1603 AD. Obverse with crowned Phoenix below crown, reverse with crowned rose with 'E' - 'R' in field and legend around. The token has lost a segment from the rim to the centre and may have been 'straightened', with a crease across the centre. The surface has a mid-grey/white patina. North (1991, 140) These pieces were probably medalets, or counters rather than tokens. Diameter = 23.65mm, thickness = 0.92mm, weight = 2.8gm.
