A copper-alloy promissory half penny token dated to 1796. The obverse depicts a horse and rider; the rider is carrying a sword. The legend above the horse and rider reads PETERSFIELD which is a Sussex place name. The reverse depicts a standing stork, crane or heron. The reverse legend reads PROMISSORY HALFPENNY 1796. There is also a legend around the edge of the token which reads x - EAMES . HOLLAND ANDREWS PETERSFIELD
