Post Medieval white metal zoomorphic object, probably a pin cushion or salt cellar or toy. It has repoussé decoration resembling the fleece or fur coat of an animal. The object is shaped like an animal, probably a sheep, looking back over it's shoulder, and is hollow. The head, ends of two of the legs, the back and tail are absent. If it was originally a pincushion or salt then there would have been a void on the back where the pad of the pincushion or the liner of the salt would have been housed. Dates to between c1500 and c1900 AD. The length is 25mm, width 17mm, and the weigh…

A zoomorphic design representing a hollow hedgehog with quills, eyes and ears, snout, and feet modelled; the finder kindly reports that the internal cavity formerly retained a lump of pumice stone [now lost] which would have sharpened pins as they were inserted and withdrawn. The object comprises a body of two beaten silver halves joined below by an oval plate, with cast four-clawed feet inserted into round holes of diameter 3.6mm; the pair of back feet remain in place but the front feet are lost. Hallmarked with maker's initials on the upper left flank: A&LL [an…
