The body of the object is broadly circular with a projecting lobe at each upper outer corner. An integral flat vertical rectangular bar is present running along the centre of the padlock face. An incomplete copper plated iron barrel padlock of early medieval to medieval date, about AD 950 - 1400, perhaps more likely to be from the later end of the range suggested. Only a fragment of the case survives. It is part of a cylinder made of iron with a copper alloy surface coating. The outer face is decorated with longitudinal ridges. Only part of one end plate survives and it is not clear if the incomplete hole in it is an intentional keyhole or corrosion. An incomplete copper alloy medieval, zoomorphic barrel lock or padlock in the shape of a horse (c. AD 1100 - 1400). The object is hollow and infilled with sediment. The locking mechanism and shackle is missing. Incomplete medieval copper alloy padlock for use with a slide-key. All of the spring mechanism is missing apart from remains of the springs which are left within the octagonally cross-sectioned case. The bar is complete but has been distorted downwards with its point almost touching the top of the case. A fragment of a Medieval copper alloy padlock, c.AD 1250-1450. This is an incomplete shackle leg of a spring slide padlock, missing the ward springs on either side of the rectangular head. The shackle consists of a round-sectioned shank that has been forged in a U-shape; one end of this shank ends in a flattened, rectangular terminal that is separated from the rest of the shank by a square plate collar. Description: This object consists of a 7.2mm diameter bar, which is circular in cross section, and curved in profile. There is  a perpendicular, pierced terminal at one end of the object. The remains of a red/ brown corroded iron pin passes through the terminal. The item has a fairly even, light green patina. An incomplete copper alloy combination padlock of Post Medieval date. Present are the four lettered discs and the two discs at either end of this block which form the case. The discs are corroded in place, but the lettering is still legible. The surviving portion of the hasp is square in section and shaped. It would have looked very similar to NLM-83304C when complete. Most examples on the PAS database are dated to the period 1550-1650. The metal is now dark brown in colour Dimensions: 15.59mm wide and the discs are 15.17mm diameter. The overall height is 29.47mm, and it weighs 16.64g

This example is complete as the internal iron fittings have corroded, fusing the normally detached and separately cast end to the main padlock case. The surviving fagment is not decorated and the surface is corroded. The object is 21.3mm long, 17.7mm wide, 6.4mm thick and weighs 2.36g. A cast sub-cylindrical object of lightly keeled section with one flat closed end and one end open, and with large opposed rectangular cut-out windows of length 22.4mm in its sides. An incomplete copper alloy padlock of Post-Medieval date, about AD 1700 - 1900. It has a circular body. Both front and back plates have a raised, central panel, marked with two narrow grooves. At the upper end of the bars is a circular cut-out carrying the remains of a ferrous hoop. The keyhole is not visible but there is a ring and dot decoration on each side of the two lateral bars.
