The finder believes it is a brooch, but there does not appear to be any remnant of a catch plate, pin, or needle. Probably a Medieval mount.
The object is made from a thin, circular sheet of iron, as indicated by the colour of rust. Around the edge of the object, there are 20 small lugs, evenly spaced and each measuring around 1.31mm long and 1.38mm wide. There is an external outer rim that the lugs are connected to that is around 0.64mm thick. The diameter of the object, including the lugs, is 17.33mm. The diameter without the lugs is 14.71mm.
The face of the object is dec…

Cast copper alloy object, possibly a toy, of post-Medieval/Modern date.

A cast Medieval or Post-Medieval copper-alloy two-piece swivel fitting (c. 1200-c. 1700).
The object has a circular loop, around 4mm in diameter, with slightly bevelled edges; this is the female half of a swivel fitting. The axis mount is flat with an off-centre piercing for the projection from the other portion of the fitting. On earlier Medieval swivel fittings of this type zoomorphic mouldings are often present on each shoulder; there is no such moulding or decoration here, which likely suggests a Post-Medieval date.

Part of a mount.
This mount is worn, with no surviving decoration on the surface (e.g. incised or stamped lines). The reverse face has two surviving pins, which would have held it to the leather it was decorating.
This object has a turret-like appearance and has a reddish surface, which could be due to oxidisation during deposition.

Incomplete Medieval - post medieval iron mount. A wrought iron mount split into two at one end, with one branch tapering to a curved point and the other curling round and terminating in what remains of a rivet hole. The main body of the object has a concave waist resembling a dumbell with two scored lines upon either side. The main trunk terminates again in a break with a rivet hole. The back of the object is flat, probably the side that was in contact with the mounting surface. The shape of the object, with the curved tapering branch, suggests some sort of latch or lever, though the …

The small composite mount could date to the Iron Age, but could also be significantly later. As no clear parallel can be found for the latter object, there is no strong reason to associate either the ring or the mount with the coin hoard. Report by J Farley and I Leins.
Analysis by Susan La Niece & Antony Simpson:
The composite mount is composed of a decorated bronze (alloy of copper and tin) strip soldered onto an iron band. The central section of the strip has a copper cap. These metals are likely to have been deliberately chosen for the decorative effect of their different colou…

A Post Medieval iron hooked mount or escutcheon, dating to the 16th century. The object is ovoid in shape with a small rounded projection at the widest end and a hook projecting from the narrowest end. There are two rivet holes, one at either end of the plate, both of which have the heads of the rivet and part of the shanks still in situ. Based on the curviture of the object it is likely from a vessel, with the hook pointing outwards. The mount has a mid-dark grey pattination with patches of light brown and orange on both sides and some light grey concreted material on the back of the…

An Early Medieval iron shield mount of the period, dating to the 6th to early-7th century. The mount is circular in plan and a irregular in cross section. It is 65.5mm in diameter and 13.9mm thick. Its weighs 50.38 grams. There are signs of damage on the reverse with traces of what appears to be wood still attached. This was possibly caused during recovery. There appears to be a circular attachment rivet in the centre of the mount protruding in to the remains of the wood. The surface is very corroded and there is no sign of decoration.

An oblong, corroded piece of iron that appears to be a mount, dating c. 450-600.
The iron object can be roughly described as hourglass in shape, though there is so much corrosion it is uncertain if this reflects the actual shape of the object or not.
It can be speculated that the object is a handle, though it may function as something else.
