A fragment of Romano-British (AD 43-410) ceramic building material with a curved surface, probably part of an imbrex (roof tile). No original edges survive. The fabric has numerous small quartzite inclusions and is dark grey in colour and slightly facetted to the outside surface, the underside also being grey with a bumpy and irregular surface. At the centre the fabric is dark orange with a central dark grey stripe. Measures 74.8x74.7x16.7mm and weighs 97.92g. Curved imbrex tiles covered the joins between the flat tegula, so protecting the roof from the elements.
