A copper alloy Post-Medieval harness or furniture fitting. The object has a large ring – the frame being sub-rectangular in section – with a pair of hinge lugs beneath. These lugs were likely to have been parallel originally, but now angle in slightly towards each other at the bottom. The lower end of the lugs have screw thread perforations in them, which would have presumably held a axis bar, or hinge fitting. It has a light brown patina, measuring 47.9mm x 33.7mm x 6.6mm, weighing 16.81g. The use for this object is unknown, although its periodic placement is known to be post-medi…

A silver hoop resembling the frame of a brooch. A break at the outer edge implies a fitting of some sort (stitching loop?) was attached to it. It has a flat back. The front is decorated with a series of twists alternated with bands of small, spherical pellets. The find is of no great age and is likely to be less than a hundred years old.

Treasure Report: 2006 T120 Parish/County: Harthill, South Yorkshire Medieval fitting in the form of the letter “h”. On the reverse are the vestiges of attachments which were probably studs to fix the letter into a leather strap. The fitting is silver and dates from the 14th century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Cast copper alloy fitting of probable medieval to post-medieval date. The body of the object is in the shape of an irregular lozenge, the straight sides being of unequal length. The corners where these sides join the semi-circular bottom show signs of a break; this was probably a place of attachment. In the middle of the semi-circular base of the object is a hook of 12.58mm long. The end of the hook has been broken off. The object is possibly related to a drape ring (see Egan, et al. p. 62, fig. 43).

An incomplete copper alloy fitting of uncertain function, probably dating to the medieval period. The fitting comprises a flat tongue shaped strip broken at the rectangular end. The strip possesses three circular perforations. One is on the break; the second at a mid point and the third within the rounded terminal of the fitting. This third perforation is very worn suggesting extensive use. The fitting measures 35mm in length and 10mm in width.
