A cast copper alloy crucifix. The cross has rounded ends to the arms with a slight collar near each termination. The three dimensional figure of Christ is clearly defined, dressed in a lioncloth and with a halo. The arms are held near horizontally, and details of the hands can be seen, as can the ribs. His head hangs to his right hand side. The back of the cross is plain and rounded, rather than flat, and there is no evidence of a fixing or loop to hang it from. Above the head of Christ is a banner with the letters INRI, which  stands for&nb…

Silver crucifix. A thin sheet metal plate resembling the form of a broad Tau cross: with a small trapezoid over a larger trapezoid. This form might alternatively allude to that of a garment, such as the shirt of Beckett. This provides a field occupied by the figure of a cross with Christ crucified, the most prominent detail of the figure itself being a loincloth. The figure appears moulded and major elements are hollowed on the back. Seven thin strands are incised from the front to either side of the cross, occupying the positions of St John and Mary in traditional renditions of Calvar…

A crudely made lead cross cast as a crucifix with a very simple figure of the crucified Christ depicted in high relief. It probably dates from the medieval period, about AD 1350 - 1540. The cross is very unevenly made with one of the cross arms being smaller and thinner than the other. The figure is depicted without any arms, nor any detail on the body. The underside has series of dents around the area of the cross pieces and upper end whereas the lower part is flat. There is no evidence of any method of hanging the crucifix so its use is not clear. It may be a mortuary cross, which …
