A heavily worn polished and clipped milled silver coin - most probably a sixpence of William III (1694-1702). The edges of the coin have been folded in three places and due to this folding and the polished nature of the coin it is suggested that this may represent a love token. A pierced silver half groat or possibly a penny of Charles I - the exterior is slightly clipped and so the type is difficult to date more closely - it is likely to have been struck after 1630 and may date from the period 1642-4. The coin has been pierced by a rectangular shaped punch from the reverse though to the obverse at 11 o'clock on the reverse - the spall of the metal hole has been flattened on the obverse face.
