A Scottish medieval cut silver voided long cross halfpenny of Alexander III dating to AD 1250-c.1280 (first coinage type III). ALEX[ANDER R]EX obverse depicting a small head facing left with a neat crown and holding a sceptre. [WAL]TER ON R reverse depicting a voided long cross with stars in the quarters. Mint of Renfrew. Moneyer probably Walter. Cf Spink 5043 (Coins of Scotland and Ireland and the Islands, 2003, Spink & Son Ltd, London).
