The thick, sub-oval hoop is small and D-shaped in cross-section at the plain shoulders which taper to a more oval section at the base of the hoop. A complete gold 'fede' ring dating to the Post Medieval Period c. AD 1620-1730. The band is D shaped in cross-section and plain on the inside with no inscription or marks. The external surface is decorated with incised foliate scrollwork. Central to the design are a pair of incised clasped hands, each with wide cuffs and puffy sleeves. Description of find (extracted from catalogue by R. Abdy and R. Hobbs) The hoard consists of 2 gold late Roman solidi, 7 silver late Roman miliarenses and 53 silver late Roman siliquae. Two base metal Roman coins of earlier date were recovered with the hoard: a third century debased radiate and a Constantinian nummus. An incomplete, gold, signet finger ring dating from the Late Medieval to Early Post-Medieval period, c. AD 1400-1550. Description: The bezel and shoulder of the ring survive with the lower half of the loop missing. The seal matrix has an oval-shaped, slightly raised bezel, depicting a squirrel crouched right with paw to mouth set within a cabled border of incised, short, diagonal grooves.
