Eastern British Iron Age coinage is found in the region north of the Thames and to the east, with some coin types issued in Kent. The Northern Thames area is traditionally associated with the Trinovantes and the Catuvellauni tribes, with distribution centering on Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and parts of surrounding counties. Gold quarter stater from the Catuvellauni tribe, 'Tasciovanos Quatrefoil' type, dating c.25BC - AD10. Obverse shows alternating four ears of corn and four tear drops surrounding two back to back crescent moons. The whole design is slightly off centre. The reverse shows a central horse facing right with a series of geometric shapes surrounding it, including two pellets either side of the horses head and a collection of three teardrops by its tail.
