Description: An incomplete gold pendant dating to the early Anglo-Saxon period. It is rectangular in form, comprising a gold sheet back-plate to which has been soldered an outer border of four strands of gold wire, the outer strands beaded and the inner strands twisted alternately, creating a herringbone effect. Description: A gold cross-shaped reliquary pendant with backplate intact and secured in place. There is an attachment loop and circular ring remaining at the top of the pendant. Also attached are the remains of one of three pins hanging from the bottom edge of the cross, as well as three of four diagonally emergent pins, one in each angle of the cross. The tube is 11.46mm long, 2.37mmin diameter, with cast beading along its apex and terminals - the diameter increases to 3.33 at the terminals. A Roman gold phallic pendant. The pendant has a substantial grooved suspension loop and a detailed representation of the male organ with testicles and erect penis, the latter with glans penis and urethra. In the hollow between the testicles there is faint evidence of pubic hair. Unusually the shaft of the penis bends downwards (rather than straight or even upwards) and is decorated on both sides with a series of diagonal grooves along almost its entire length.
