A gold tremissis, struck by the Visigoths in Gaul, imitating a Roman Imperial coin of Zeno (474-91). It was probably struck, c. 475-490. No exactly similar coin of this type is known to the British Museum, but further research is needed.
Most copies of this period have the mintmark as CONOB or CONO. In this case it is dot N dot. This derives from the ONO of CONOB. There is one coin in the British Museum of Julius Nepos (474-5) with mintmark dot dot M dot dot which derives from COMOB (Oxborough Hoard 2003, R. Abdy).
