Treasure ref. 2018 T928: an Early-Medieval gold coin pendant. The pendant is made from a 9th-century Anglo-Frisian copy of a Carolingian solidus of Louis the Pious (814-840). ​The coin has been pierced directly above the head. Obverse: laureate and cuirassed bust right; legend illegible Reverse: cross pattée within a wreath; legend illegible. A gold Early-Medieval pseudo-Imperial solidus of Justinian I (AD 527-565), dating to the period c.AD 527-565. Obverse: D N IVSTINI-ANVS P P NC, Helmeted and cuirassed bust facing, holding globe cruciger and shield. Reverse: VICTORI-A AVGGG, Angel standing facing holding chrismon topped staff and globe cruciger, a star to the right. Mintmark: - *//CONOC (C reversed) Diameter: 21mm; Weight: 4.43g. For the official prototype of Justinian from Constantinople cf. MIBE p.113, no. 7. This is probably a Merovingian pseudo-Imperial issue, cf. Belfort no. 5234passim.

Gold coin. Solidus of Valentinian I (364-375), mint of Arles, issue of 364-367, Reece period 19, RIC volume 9 no. 1(b). This coin is in excellent condition, the only flaw being where the edge has been tweaked at 7 O'clock (obverse), probably to assay the material in antiquity. A gold solidus of Valens, Trier mint (367-375/8). Obverse: D N VALENS P F AVG. Rosette-diademed, draped, & cuirassed bust right. Reverse: Valens & Valentinian seated facing, both holding globe above palm between them; behind, Victory standing facing; VICTOR-IA AVGG Mint mark: TROBS. RIC IX 17e and 39a The coin was found in the same parish as a gold solidus hoard containing coins of Gratian, Valentinian II and Theodosius (2005 T292), recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database as LIN-718484. The relationship between the coins is uncertain.
