A flint flake possibly with hollow scraper blades on each edge, c.1000-1BC. Description: The flake is a tertiary flake with no cortex remaining. Along both long edges at the same point on the flake are two small concave sections with short scaled semi-abrupt retouch likely intended to create a hollow scraping edge. The bulb of percussion on the ventral side is quite pronounced as is the bulbar scar and conchoidal rippling indicating the use of a hard hammer in its production. The flint has been heavily bashed and rolled. The flint is opaque mid grey through to light brown towards i…

A flint scraper likely of late Bronze Age to Iron Age date. Description: The scraper is ovoid, with large sweeping rounded edges. The scraper is triangular in cross-section. The scraping edge is formed from irregular invasive semi-abrupt retouch at the proximal end (striking platform end), this changes towards the distal end to abrupt indicating blunting of the corner. The retouch is struck from the both faces. The dorsal side still has about a third of the mid brown cortex remaining. The ventral side has some working and a substantial teadrop shaped bulb of percussion and substant…

A possible coarse flint denticulate/scraper hybrid tool likely dating to the late Bronze Age or Iron age c.1000BC - 0BC . Description: The scraper was produced from a secondary flake, possibly accidentally created. The scraper is semi-circular in plan. Barring the retouch along the curved edge there is little obvious flaking, likely indicating the use of a natural or accidental flake, typical of flint manufacture after the middle Bronze Age. The curved edge has short scaled semi-abrupt retouch producing a scraping edge. At the top edge is a denticulate removal creating an indent w…
