Approx. half of a sub-square sectioned whetstone, of smooth, worn fine-grained schist, thin sedimentary banding is just visable on two opposing sides. The end changes section to almost triangular, with deeply incised "V" at a slight angle on one face. The very end has fine, parrallel scratches from use. C. 800 to 1100 AD.

Late Iron Age to Roman copper alloy Langton Down brooch, probably of Mackreth's (2011) Type 2.b, dating to the period c. AD 25 - 60. The wings form a cylindrical hood housing the spring and axis bar. The wings exhibit a transverse seam and a central oval slot cut in the centre through which the pin projects. The pin terminates in an old break. The bow is divided from the spring case by a crescentic cross-moulding. The bow tapers from the head and terminates in an old break. It exhibits reeded longitudinal moulding. Incomplete Roman copper alloy brooch, probably of Headstud type dating to the period c. AD 75 - 200. The head, pin and upper bow are missing. The bow commences in an old break and tapers along its length. It exhibits a series of opposed triangular cells filled with degraded enamel, small chunks of which are now black in colour. The junction between the foot and the lower bow is marked by a moulded double collar above a stepped D-sectioned foot. The catchplate projects from the reverse of the bow, terminating in an old break.
