Object type: SEAL MATRIX
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Published
Vesica shaped lead object with faceted sides, one face plain the bears traces of raised decoration. This object was described as the blank for a seal matrix but some caution must be exercised, in addition to the lack of an inscription, a lug and fleur-de-lys on the back it should be noted that this object is smaller than any of the other lead matrices recorded by the Scheme, most having a length of around 30mm, not the 25.2mm seen here.
