Object type: PILGRIM BADGE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Published
Rectangular form with protruding circular attachment lugs at each corner. The front surface is decorated with a crudely executed figure of a crucified human figure wearing a girdled tunic. Identified as a Scottish issue of Saint Andrew by comparison with a parallel from London (Spencer 1998, no. 265). The rectangular shape, with stitching rings, has more in common with Continental than with English badges.
