The pin-head is barrel moulded, of a type found on fifth- and sixth-century penannular brooches such as the example from Porth Dafarch, Anglesey. A near complete cast copper alloy and iron sprung Birdlip type brooch of Late Iron Age to Early Roman date (c. 30-60 AD). The brooch is undoubtedly of Birdlip Type but is not well paralleled in Mackreth (2011) and appears to lack the typical upturned “beak/tongue”.
