Medieval weight; cast lead shield-shaped weight of probable 15th century date. Large weight with a narrower outer border and raised inner shield. The shield is very worn but has indications of three horizontal motifs, suggesting the three leopards of England. The back face is flat and undecorated. The whole has a thick, white-brown patina, except for two areas on the front face where the surface has been scraped off, presumably whilst the weight was buried. Length 62.6mm, width 55.8mm, thickness 22.5mm, weight c.490g

A copper alloy Victorian half-ounce trade weight. The weight resembles a shallow cup shape with the short side tapering to the base. On the top surface, there is a central crown mark present with 'VR' beneath. This belongs to the Victorian period. Also, there are more off-centre marks, with another crown and '[W]W' beneath, and a strange symbol. It measures 25.24mm x 5.35mm, weighing 13.14g/0.46oz. This weight dates between 1837 and 1901.

A small complete, shield shaped lead weight, with a flat top and base and curved edges. The triangular weight also has rounded corners. There is an extensive amount of damage on the top of the weight where the decoration is. Therefore it is illegible. The damage is in the form of deep incisions which give the impression they were done when the weight was hot due to the melting of the edges. The lead is a light whitish-grey colour and measures 48.71mm x 29.90mm x 15.34mm, weighing 111.32g. Due to a lack of examples and lack of context the date remains uncertain but it is probably Medie…

A uniface lead-alloy weight, probably a coin weight. The inscribed face has an inner beaded circle, within which is a crowned thistle flanked by the letters I R, probably for James I (1603-25). The crown breaks the inner circle. Around the inner circle is a legend, which reads COM':C[?....?]:S. There are stops of three pellets in a triangular formation at the start and end of the legend. There is an outer beaded circle. This piece has the characteristics of a continental weight (of Germany or the Low Countries) intended for checking the Thistle Crown of James I, except that, at 3.6gm,…
