A medieval writing lead. The lead shaft is round in section and tapers to a point. It is bent at a right angle in the middle. At the top of the lead shaft is a circular knob, which has a diameter of 11.28mm. The length of the writing lead is 71.79mm, the thickness of the shaft is 67.26mm and the weight is 36.60g.

Copper alloy Probable tool fitting. Cast ring with cross-hatched surface, probably to afford grip. Distorted, probably by intense heat. The surface finish recalls that of bicycle valves and adjustable tools, whereby manual adjustment is facilitated by a textured surface. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1950. A small rectangular fragment of light blue translucent glass, it has a greenish tint when held up to the light; possibly window glass. The top edge is slightly thicker than the rest of the body. The obverse of the glass, in plan view, has a small rounded depression towards the top in the centre of the glass. Towards the bottom of the main body it appears to have sheared off at a shallow angle. The outer edges of the glass are both straight but with slight pitting.
