Roman copper alloy nummus, probably of Magnentius (351-353), VOT V MULT X reverse, Reece period 18. The coin is in poor condition and appears to have been cut down in size, is 16mm in diameter and weighs 1.87g. Sam Moorhead comments on LEIC-62BF18: These coins appear to be cut down from larger coins in response to a decree of AD 354 which outlawed large denominations. The excavations of a well at Piddington Villa (Northants) does appear to confirm that they date to the AD 350s.
